A chronicle of where I've been, where I'm at, and where I'm going.

friday let me down

Today I am a bit more

then I knew myself to be yesterday

and I find myself waiting on the

promised rain-

the thunderstorm that should have

wakened me earlier this morning-

but decided to sidestep my day and prance off into someone else’s

(huh.  how about that

even thunderstorms do such things in my life

from time to time)

watching, waiting…thinking…hoping?

the horizon,

like the weekend

(no – scratch that)

the weekend, the horizon of my week

holds such promise

and again time will cease to matter

for just a moment or three.

This is where the magic happens

where control shifts back to the individual

from the corporate machine

and suddenly hope

springs eternal

for a few hours at least.

it’s little wonder we obsess over

zombies

and mobsters

and Bella and Edward

and whether a platoon of pissed off avian whack jobs

could possibly slaughter

holed up helmet wearing swine

(for points even…)

what a life.

No one bitches at a zombie for clocking in 3 minutes late

and mobsters may not have 401k’s but they don’t

get only 30 minutes for lunch, either

and Bella and Edward have no more responsibility

than visiting the Cullen’s now and again or

perfecting off-putting looks.

when the weekend marches in

and everyone exercises their refusal to truckle

for a day or two…

something shifts in the world and we all feel whole…

at least for a moment.

No one is looking for my rain,

my thunderstorm

by the time Friday afternoon rolls around

and there is very good reason that

there is no better feeling in the world

than Friday afternoon at five.
